A new report challenges the notion that artificial intelligence will soon make traditional teaching obsolete, arguing that human educators and school environments play irreplaceable roles in student development. The Association of Professional Educators in Nigeria emphasizes that while AI can assist with administrative tasks or personalized learning tools, it lacks the emotional intelligence, adaptability, and holistic guidance that teachers provide. The organization warns that over-reliance on AI could undermine the social, ethical, and psychological growth of students, which requires human interaction and structured learning environments. Critics highlight that AI may enhance education but cannot replicate the nuanced support and mentorship essential for nurturing well-rounded individuals.
