I realized I would prefer teeth drilling over teaching art to my last period class. You may think “elementary art, that’s so cute!” it was cute for several years but now it’s not. I plan based more on attention spans, emotional dysregulation, testing schedule, and chronic absenteeism than actual art skills. I know all of these issues exist in the classroom too. I was there for 8 years. But at least it’s 25 kids all year and not 125 per day. I’m overstimulated and exhausted.
