I just started highschool and my freshman year is about to end and ive been doing a lot of research of what i want to be, i feel like my choices are very limited because i’m not rich, wealthy, upper middle class, nor middle class. Im not DIRT POOR i guess I’m like lower middle class? Listen i find phone plans a luxury bro, but thats besides the point. I want to be a history teacher, i love history but also i may be considering being an english teacher, i would love to teach freshman because right now we are learning about romeo and juliet and it’s very fun and easy. i mainly want to be a teacher because i know how hard and mean school can be especially middle school and how exhausting it can be and how bad it can affect your mental health and having bad teachers will just add on to that even more. When i was younger i had a learning disability, i was a very slow learner. I never caught on to stuff like how other kids did and all of my teachers were so mean to me about it and i would never want a kid to go through what i went through. I want to be those kind of teachers who kids love and trust with everything, i inspire to be one of those teachers. But i know you need to get a bachelor’s degree to become a teacher and thats 4 years of college, i know college can be very expensive and i dont want to take out student loans and DONT want to be in debt my entire life. I know i can sign up for scholarships but i’ve heard people say that theyre hard to get and they applied for like 300 scholarships and wrote so many essays and didnt get any money. Ive also heard that you can do 2 years at community and do the other 2 years at an actual college. I just want to know if any teachers who had a poor background and had very little money growing up, how did you pay for college? submitted by /u/pissrotr [link] [comments]
