I don't know what to do. My district just sent out their proposal for our next raise: 0.93% To really screw us over the insurance increase would mean my family would have to pay $850 per paycheck we get every other week (currently $280) and our family deductible goes from $1000 to $6000. The cheap plan that only allows the local hospital affiliated doctors would be $590 per paycheck with a $4000 deductible. Both plans have higher costs associated with copays after the deductible is met, or coinsurance instead of a copay. We also have a deductible on medications as well, and increased cost of all meds. It used to be that the lower pay (my state is 50th in the U.S.) was offset by things like a good insurance plan but that seems to have gone out the window. I only have a few years before I have enough years in the system before I can have something of a pension, but I don't know if I can make it financially. submitted by /u/RkkyRcoon [link] [comments]
