Does anyone else's district have a dual language program? In my district, not every school has it, but mine does. I hate it. All it does is create envy and tension between teachers. My school is "small", meaning there are only 2 teachers per grade level. One ESL class and one DL class. Why do I hate it? Oh, because the DL classes never have more than 8 students and the ESL classes never have less than 20. A new student moves to your school? They automatically go to the ESL class. I currently have 20 students and the other 3rd grade class has 7. How is this fair? Not to mention, it's a common trend in my school that all major behavior problems are usually in the ESL classes. I might get pushback, but yes I am totally jealous and it just makes me irritated nearly every day.
