I’ve just seen that a teacher in Florida has been suspended after a Fetty Wap lyric appeared under her name in the yearbook and I need to rant about it. The whole thing was started by a parent who complained that the quote was “inappropriate and unprofessional” and said: “A principal represents leadership, maturity, and professionalism. Referring to criticism or concerned parents as ‘haters’ in a school publication sends the wrong message to children and families.” Are you ready for the quote? “Everybody hatin’, we just call them fans though! — Mrs. O’Connell.” Yes, that’s it. She claims she didn’t write it and the quote wasn’t in the final proof read by her, but even if she did… it’s not even bad? When are we going to stop this ‘parent is always right’ thing. This poor woman has potentially lost her job over nothing. Imagine what she must be going through right now.
