Hi all, I don't want to complain too much as I currently took a "part-time" job at a small private elementary school here in Miami. For my language classes, I teach 4 sections back-to-back every day, which is doable but still comes out to 20 classes a week/ 4 different preps to see each class 5 days in a row, and very different levels, so I'm differentiating too (which I'm used to doing.) I am allowed to leave at 1 pm, when I am done teaching, which allows me to go pick up my toddler and one-year-old from preschool by 2 pm and spend the rest of the day with them. The biggest perk is that they offer free tuition if I want to send my little ones there next year. The pros are pretty good for a mom with little kids...But I can't help but be a little annoyed that this is really a full-time job (20 classes a week) without a lunch break, without any paid prep periods, etc, along with, of course, no full-time benefits and no paid summer... so are they sort of screwing me in this aspect? submitted by /u/Feeling_Football7782 [link] [comments]
