I am a 32-yr-old school SLP and, in real life, I think most adults who meet me would list "funny" or "entertaining" as one of my top 3 adjectives. I work with elementary and middle schoolers, and I have no idea how to make them laugh (or even smile lol). I don't have a grasp on what kids think are funny, so I resort to trying to have conversations/small talk to make connections, which doesn't often work (and I totally get that because I hate small talk too... not to mention most of these kids have language disorders so conversation isn't their strong suit). My irl humor is very irreverent and referential so I know it wouldn't work with the kids but I want to be able to inject some humor into our sessions so they don't find them so boring. submitted by /u/ilove2sleep [link] [comments]
