I’ve been at the district for 4 years. After 1 year at the south side middle school, I was asked to go to the north side as my elective was cut, but a core SS position was opened. I started at that building with now my teacher bestie as well.

I’ve been at the district for 4 years. After 1 year at the south side middle school, I was asked to go to the north side as my elective was cut, but a core SS position was opened. I started at that building with now my teacher bestie as well. We finally get lunch together this year instead of just PLC periods. Life is great. Starting next year, they’re consolidating (2026 education word of the year in Wisconsin) and now our building is having all 5th and 6th, while the south side is going to have all 7th and 8th on top of 2 elementary schools closing. Last month the two of us were going to the south side, but different grades. No big deal, still get to see each other. Today he was told that school is now over staffed and his position is cut for next year. Either someone had to retire (in this economy?) or someone leaves. Other than alerting the union, I’m at a lost of words for him. He lives in town, coaches two sports, wonderful teacher. Now he can only stay if I, an out of town teacher, leave for a job closer to home. At least Spring Break this Friday. submitted by /u/CaptCalder [link] [comments]
