I'm a kindergarten teacher, and I had to call CPS on a student's parent due to a secondhand account I heard from a coworker regarding the way the mother treated that student at school arrival (abuse). I have had a sense that something was wrong all year with that student's home life. I got a call from CPS the other day saying they were going to go ahead with the investigation, and asked me for more information. This parent does not pick up her child from school- another family member does. I have had little contact with this mother all year, and after many attempts was finally able to make contact with the mom to schedule a routine parent-teacher conference to go over her child's progress via phone call this week. I am a little nervous about this phone call, and further interactions with this parent, as this parent seems volatile and has an old mugshot on the interent for an assault charge a couple years back. Any advice for the phone call ? What do I say if the parent accuses me of calling CPS on her? Can I deny it since it's a confidential report? submitted by /u/Superb_Brilliant3093 [link] [comments]
