This year marks my 5th year teaching. After a long time coming, I decided to resign from my district. My mental and physical heath was taking a huge hit from the all the things we know us teachers have to deal with (admin, student behaviors, data tracking, meetings, etc). I have applied to various positions within my local college and university. I have had interviews but no calls. My last day is in June to complete the school year and finish my contract. However, now I’m debating whether I should try another district or stick with my original plan for a full career change. Is it worth trying a different district and grade level? I have only ever taught middle school but I’m certified for high school science. I live at home so I could potentially afford a pay cut if I change careers. It’s honestly scary when you sign a contract to teach at a school and grade level you don’t know. I feel like it’s always a trap and you have to stay an entire year in misery. submitted by /u/Character-Sound176 [link] [comments]
