I just saw the Project Hail Mary today, and I won’t spoil anything because it is genuinely one of the best movies I’ve seen in years. It is such a positive, good film that I hope will make a lot of people more interested in things like science, language, bravery, and selflessness. But this post isn’t about that, it’s about how the movie does a really good job showing that its main character is, first and foremost, a teacher. I want to specifically call attention to one scene early in the movie where things are very chaotic. In a desperate attempt to calm things down, the main character’s reaction is to put his hand in the air and say “my hand is in the air.” I laughed out loud. This is such an inside baseball teacher thing, it made me so happy to see. submitted by /u/DorianThackery [link] [comments]
