I’m a mid year new hire teacher for a kindergarten class. I am not enjoying it. Kindergarten was never my first choice, but this job sort of fell into my lap. I was working at the school as an I.A. and one of the Kindergarten teachers needed to leave mid year so I was personally asked to fill in this role. The principal says he will not put me in Kindergarten again next year, but I don’t know if I even want to teach anymore. I feel stressed out. I can’t talk for more than 10 seconds without being interrupted. I’m constantly having to break up fights. The kids don’t know how to use a normal voice volume. They need explicit help with everything, but won’t listen to instructions. I can’t reason with them, because they don’t seem to have the ability to reflect yet. Are older grades better? Is Kindergarten unusually bad? submitted by /u/Legitimate_Map_5624 [link] [comments]
