Hello, I have an independent study student who is with me 2nd and 3rd period- 3rd period is my prep. This student is working on college classes- I am not responsible academically for this student in any way. My contract says I am entitled to 50 duty-free minutes a day, and right now I am not getting my 50 duty-free minutes if this student is in my room. I have to take attendance for this student on my prep. I don’t have a place alone all day long - I want to get some much done, but this student loves to talk (even with hey I’m going to put my air pods in and get some work done.) Kids and my one incapable aide constantly bombard me ALL DAY- today me and the student counted: I had 14 visitors on my prep. I am currently involved in a union lawsuit against the district, and all of my bosses specifically; I am just part of it by happenstance, nothing outwardly I did, just a ginormous cluster from terrible leadership. Anyway, I don’t want to poke the bear especially if they’re going to retaliate further because yes, I have already been retaliated against of course after being subpoenaed to testify in court. :) Should I just suck it up?
