My wife has been employed with her school for three years as a coordinator. Earlier this year, my spouse’s admin was collecting teacher credentials so the admin could complete mandated training for teachers to meet state deadlines. My wife was asked to print the certificates off and that’s how she found out. My spouse contacted the Superintendent because she didn’t want to get in trouble and lose her licensure. The Superintendent then had a conversation with the admin and the Superintendent reported to the admin that my wife was the one who reported the incident. Following her return from leave, the admin wrote my spouse up by saying she was not in the classroom enough which is frankly bullshit. During the conversation, the admin told my wife that the superintendent instructed her to write my wife up. Eventually, the admin took a step down and became a teacher on special assignment. Last month, the superintendent told my wife that her contract was not being renewed because she did not have proper certification for the role. My wife was never told this and she asked for proof. If she were told, she would have completed the requirement. Personally, I feel this is retaliatory based on my spouses report regarding the admin. The admin and superintendent are friends. Additionally, my wife also has never had an evaluation ranked below skilled. I’m not sure if we should seek out consultation with a lawyer. Doing so would probably harm her ability to find a job in another district. I’m also not sure if we retained a lawyer, they could do much of anything. Anyone have advice?
