I just found out I am pregnant with our first baby! We are very excited and didn't really have the ability to try to plan for a certain due date (already pushing the clock!), so it turns out I'll be due at the end of November... I am struggling to figure out how to plan FMLA so I don't screw myself out of getting paid/using sick time when I wouldn't need to because of Thanksgiving/Winter Break. Does any state give their teachers paid maternity leave, or do they just figure paid summers are enough? For other teachers who gave birth during the school year, how much before your due date did you take leave? Is there a "smart" way to do it? For my fellow high school teachers, how am I supposed to get extra rest?? I'm already in bed super early and up before the sun, so do I need to find a way to nap after school or something? Any tips for getting through the day? I'm only five weeks so I feel like I just got on the roller coaster, but my body definitely knows it's growing a person... submitted by /u/Icy_Location [link] [comments]
