Yesterday, a teacher I had manyyyy years ago in high school posted a GoFundMe on social media. His wife has lung cancer and they are trying to raise money for treatment. Wonderful family - wonderful teacher I have very fond memories of. It’s been right at 24 hours since he posted. Their GoFundMe has raised over 50K. As I look through the donators, sooo many are former students of his. It has been so humbling to watch how former students (and of course other members of the community) have been supportive by donating or simply sharing the link on their own social media. I bumped into him out and about a few years ago when I was heavily pregnant. He stopped to chat and I remember he told me how lucky my baby was to get me for a mom - he said it was so rewarding to watch good people bring babies into the world. I cried so hard when he told me that, lol. It was exactly what I needed to hear at the time. So many former students that shared the link had some type of similar experience with him that stood out to them. My point is, what you do matters! So many kids will notice the little things you do and you may not realize what a positive impact you have on them. submitted by /u/TNthrowaway747 [link] [comments]
