I’m a SPED teacher and my principal is my manager. She doesn’t know anything about SPED and hasn’t made an attempt to get educated on it either. I got an observation about two weeks ago with two kids for a 30 minute pull out session in the SPED classroom. The principal comes in late and sits in the couch on her phone. She interrupted me the entire time, saying that I was saying and doing things wrong in front of my kids (I was scaffolding background knowledge and because she kept interrupting I couldn’t teach what I needed), she told one student “the teacher isn’t asking you a hard question, answer the question” (this child has a learning disability and speech impairment and requires extra time), she took the vocabulary match cards out of students hands while they were doing a turn and talk, and began explicitly teaching one of my kids when it was a group practice set so I had no choice but to turn and teach my other student. The lesson was supposed to be 30 minutes and it turned in an hour with her in there and we didn’t even get to the other practice sets or exit tickets. She also said I needed to post my objective and my CFS. Those two things were on the board and when I was going over the CFS, she was on her phone. Also, this is the same exact lesson that I did with my field supervisor who was a principal for 20 years and I received all 5 stars. I’m not a perfect teacher but my lessons are very rigorous and they always connect. She gave me a terrible rating for my observation when there was no observation because she completely took over my lesson. I know that I need to add an observation note and respond to the observation but I’m concerned about retaliation. Should I just rip the bandaid off and submit the response? submitted by /u/Sea-Act-270 [link] [comments]
