A family friend of mine in her late 20’s who grew up in foster care shared this on Facebook today and it really hit me what impact we have. (I have permission to share). To all my teachers who gave me the childhood I wouldn’t have gotten without you. Without you I never would’ve had a Christmas, Halloween, Valentine’s Day. I never would’ve had happy birthday sang to me. I never would’ve experienced the farm, the indoor playground, the zoo. I never would’ve had a water bottle without the plastic one you gave each student. I still have every name tag I ever had made for me. I still have the little dollar store gifts you’d buy us out of pocket for our birthdays or Christmas. I still keep all my class photos and notes because they meant more to me than you’d ever know. I hope all of you got a good pension and are enjoying your freedom and rest now! I just, I know it’s hard and they don’t pay you right but just thank you so so much for giving me my childhood that the four adults in my life chose not to. submitted by /u/ineedtocoughbut [link] [comments]
