I started subbing about a month ago (mostly upper elementary & middle) and I really enjoy it so far, I've been fortunate to be with really great classes - the biggest issue that I've had is with the chromebooks ... the students forget them, they're dead, the charger is gone, login issues, etc. etc. My FYP on tiktok since starting is basically just teachers/education content and I keep hearing this chromebook complaint come up (here as well). It seems to me that the general consesus is that the Chromebooks are a net negative in education. So my question is why don't teachers who think this just go back to physical materials (like good old fashioned pencil and paper) in their own classrooms? I mean this as a genuine question - are the districts requiring them to be used in every class? Is it just easier to have the students hop on iReady games when they're done with asssignments to keep them entertained? Genuinely curious! submitted by /u/Funny_Ad3678 [link] [comments]
