A new opportunity for Indigenous Australian voices to be heard has emerged with the launch of the second consultation period for the First Nations education policy. This significant policy aims to improve educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, who currently face a persistent gap in academic achievement compared to their non-Indigenous peers. The policy, which has been in development since 2020, seeks to address the historical and systemic barriers that have contributed to this disparity. As the consultation period opens, educators, policymakers, and community members are being encouraged to provide feedback and suggestions to shape the final policy and help create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment for Indigenous students.
