I’m honestly so fucking sick of parents who just don’t parent their own kids. I’m on my 4th grade placement right now and the behaviour policy is basically “give them 70 warnings and hope for the best.” So guess what? The kids don’t give a single shit. Why would they? They know nothing actually happens. They’ll be rude, disruptive, outright disrespectful and just wait it out because they know the system is a joke. Had kids today asking me “where are you actually from?” just because I said I’m from the UK… like what?? I’ve basically grown up here. Another kid tried to shush me. SHUSH me. Swearing, backchat, constant low-level crap that just never ends. And the worst part? The consequences don’t land. They don’t care. You can follow the policy perfectly and it still does nothing. Yeah, maybe I’m not perfect, I’ll hold my hands up to that. But seriously… why does a 10-year-old think it’s acceptable to speak to an adult like that? That doesn’t come from nowhere. That’s learned. That’s home. At some point we need to stop pretending schools can fix everything. If a child comes in with zero respect, zero boundaries, and zero accountability, what exactly are we meant to do when the system ties our hands? I signed up to teach, not to spend my day being disrespected while ticking behaviour policy boxes that don’t work. Anyone else dealing with this or is it just my placement from hell? submitted by /u/Own_Chicken_4430 [link] [comments]
