Today, my admin posted huge, fancy red stop signs in each of the doors that lead to the admin offices that say STOP in the middle. at the top, underlined, it says, "Staff and Students", then in big white letters, "OFFICE CLOSED. To schedule time with your assistant principal or [campus police officer] please contact admin secretary. If this is an emergency. please knock." Then in more giant white all caps letters, "ADMIN TEAM ONLY." If it were temporary, they would not be so fancy and would just be a note, not TWO giant fancy signs shaped like a stop sign. Just...wtf? Am I in the wrong thinking that this is messed up that we can't even step foot into the admin area of the building? Does anyone else have admin that does this? We never have - it's always been an open door policy. Each administrator still has their own office within this now closed admin area that can be closed for privacy. This just feels extremely alienating, especially since it's a new principal this year and morale is already at an all-time low, especially after a recent incident got our school in the local news. Even staff hasn't been briefed on the incident and just told to keep quiet on social media, which is jumping to horrible conclusions that are likely worse than the actual incident itself (which IS already horrible enough). The school and district have not put out any sort of information or response to actually help the situation either. And now we have these stupid signs. What am I supposed to think about that? Am I overreacting? A coworker mentioned that it might be temporary or because they are overwhelmed right now, but f that. I'm overwhelmed too and can't just shut my door and tell everyone to make an appointment. I still have people knocking on my door and calling kids down in the middle of class every single class period. Being busy is not a good enough reason. submitted by /u/MoonlightReaper [link] [comments]
