In a major breakthrough, Victorian teachers have agreed to accept a pay deal with the state government, effectively cancelling their planned industrial action. The move comes after months of tense negotiations between the Australian Education Union (AEU) and Education Minister James Merlino, with teachers demanding improved pay and working conditions. The pay deal is set to provide teachers with a 12.5% pay rise over three years, as well as additional funding for schools to hire more support staff. With the industrial action off the table, students and parents can breathe a sigh of relief, as the new agreement is expected to bring much-needed stability to the education sector.
