So today my school announced the teacher of the year. I knew it would not be me, since it ismy first year. However, the principal chose an instructional coach as TOTY. I mean, I am definitely happy for her, but it kind of felt like a sucker punch to the teachers of the school. Yes, the job of an instructional coach is important and definitely has its challenges.... but they're not classroom teachers? It just felt weird....like why not give them support staff? Why would you make them teacher of the year? I felt really bad for the teachers who have been teaching at my school for years and put in so much time and effort into making their students better learners and people. Would you be confused too, or am I overreacting? I don't know how to even properly label how I feel.... just weird? EDIT: the principal chose the TOY. not the teachers. submitted by /u/fagatron-3000 [link] [comments]
