North Carolina asking teachers to step up to foster In short, an overwhelmed foster system is looking for help and noticing teachers would be a good fit, being good with kids and all, for short-term placements. It's even advocated for by a teacher. Now, good foster care is important, and those who open the homes are angels who want to make a difference. I fully encourage good people to consider fostering. And they're right: teachers are kind of a natural fit. And the focus is on short-term situations. Yet, something about this initiative rubs me the wrong way: we need more foster homes and teachers are selfless people who are in it for the kids. Let's target them in a campaign! I don't know. Again, fostering is a good thing. But why is this about the teachers? submitted by /u/CaptainEmmy [link] [comments]
