I just found out I got into Yale, and the first people I thought of were my teachers. I have two who have really helped me, seen me grow, and wrote my recommendation letters which ultimately helped me get into my dream school. I want to thank them in a way that actually reflects how much they've meant to me over my high school years, not just a generic "thanks for the letter" gesture. I'm already writing each of them a handwritten letter, but I also want to give them something tangible to go along with it. Something they'd actually use or keep, and perhaps that makes them remember me. I considered Yale merch (a mug or something they could display) but I've seen mixed opinions on whether that comes across as thoughtful or self-congratulatory. I want the focus to be on them and what they gave me, not on where I got in. So I'm asking the people who would actually receive this: what would genuinely mean something to you? What have students given you that you still remember? submitted by /u/DepartmentCandid429 [link] [comments]
