Dr. Jared Cooney Horvath’s recent testimony before the U.S. Senate has been circulating over social media lately, and it got me thinking about the impact of edtech in our classrooms. I’ve been teaching for 10 years now, and since I’ve started, there’s been a tremendous push across the country to incorporate technology in schools. Despite Dr. Horvath’s claims, most of the literature I’ve read highlight the benefits of using edtech in the classroom. However, the research he presented does show some alarming trends regarding tech use and student achievement. What are your thoughts about edtech in the classroom? Should we be limiting it or incorporating it in other ways? How can we (teachers) justify less tech in our classes to school and district admin who constantly push for more technology integration? I am open to other perspectives as well. submitted by /u/Allkiar [link] [comments]
