With spring testing season approaching (TELPAS, SAT, A.P. exams, state end of course exams, etc.) , how are your campuses handling students who show up for testing with smart glasses? Particularly those students who claim that they “don’t have a spare pair of regular glasses” to wear during their exams, but yes, they need to wear corrective lenses to see the test. I was TELPAS testing a month ago when this happened. Student had Ray Ban Meta glasses and when I told him to put them away and use a spare pair of regular lenses and he said he didn’t have a spare. Then I asked if he needed corrective lenses to see the exam to which he said he did (I kind felt that he was bullshitting me but I had to give him the benefit of the doubt). I called the testing admin for advice and I was told to “let the student test but just make sure he’s not turning on his glasses or recording.” When testing was over, I did document this in his Eduphoria profile since he's a junior also pending SAT testing as well as his U.S. History state test and odds are he'll show up for both with his Meta glasses and this situation will be repeated. And students are told that they are not allowed to have cell phones, smart watches, and smart glasses on their person when they take these exams. Testing teachers will collect cell phones and smart watches when the students show up to test, but the smart glasses prove a bit of an issue since they might actually be needed for students who need to wear glasses. Again, how are your campuses handling situations similar to this? submitted by /u/MuddyMudtripper [link] [comments]
