Holy shit. I'm introducing some CommonLit stuff into my classroom for the first time and it actually requires thinking and interacting with ideas. It's all printed on paper, too, and it's essentially the basic shit from those McDougal Littell Literature books for middle schoolers from 20 years ago. The great pendulum swings back...it's actually fine. But you know what? The kids simply cannot focus or tolerate the time it takes to do it. The answers don't just come right out, and they're losing their shit. Instant gratification in the dopamine system is fucking up the canned curriculum that the district has purchased, and I don't see a way out here. Just an observation. That's all. As long as the paychecks don't bounce, I guess it's fine. But damn..... submitted by /u/Positive_Throwaway1 [link] [comments]
